Ray tracing in 3d computer graphics is a variant of light transport modeling, for use in numerous rendering algorithms for producing digital images.

Detailed description of the computer ray tracing algorithm and concrete origin[edit]What happens in nature (simplified)[edit]
In nature, lighting emits a beam of light, which finally , reaches the surface, which interrupts its progress. Advantages over competitors by other rendering methods[edit]
The popularity of ray tracing based rendering stems from its foundation in realistic light engine simulation compared to internal rendering methods, like rasterization, which focuses more on realistic geometry modeling.
